OOC Information
Source: Original Character

Grace Fong is an exceptional martial artist and a talented healer; although she isn't supernatural by any means. In the original papers of the orphanage, she was recorded as "wu ming," meaning "Nameless." Later, she somehow ended up picking up the name, "Pei-Pei." In the orphanage, the Mother Superior gave her her own family name: "Fong." Later, when she came of age, she adopted her first name as "Grace" in order to improve her chances of finding a job in a Western company.

Background

What is known about her early years comes from her own memory alone, without much physical evidence to corroborate. She doesn't know very many things about herself such as where she was born, certainly who her parents are, why her eyes are blue and hair are silver, etc. The earliest thing she can remember is being in the orphanage from age 5 or so. At around age 10, she remembers the orphanage burning down, for reasons not entirely clear. But the result was that she became homeless.

After wandering the streets for a while, she ran into a sticky situation which revealed her natural talent for the martial arts. Thus she was invited to become part of a gang. Given the choice between starvation and life of relatively easy money, she chose the latter. Morals do not fill the stomach, clothe a bare body, or put a roof above one's head. In this new life, her aforementioned talents only blossomed since opportunities for 'practice' were only too frequent.

Close to the age of 18, she met a newly initiated gang member to whom she took an instant liking. She couldn't quite understand why she was suddenly attracted to a man, whereas she never had been before in her life. One day, he ended up taking a shot in the chest. When she opened his shirt, she discovered that 'he' was a 'her!' Suddenly, something made sense to her. Unfortunately, her new lover didn't survive. She had seen people come and go all the time, but this was the last straw; she wanted out.

Unfortunately, however, the gang wouldn't allow this. It was thanks to them, they asserted, that she was saved from the street. Therefore, she owed her life to them. Grudgingly, she continued to 'work.' During another shootout, she noticed that her boss was in the path of a bullet. She managed to push him out of the way and save his life, but the bullet narrowly missed her and grazed her cheek, leaving her with a permanent reminder. She used this opportunity to invoke the 'life for a life' principal. With the proof etched on her face, the godfather couldn't deny her.

The first thing she did was put all the money she had saved up over the years into a bank account. Next, she sought a small odd-job in order to start with college. After earning her bachelor's in biochemistry from University of Hong Kong, she found a great job opportunity in Nagoya, Japan at a 'big pharma' company. While in Japan, a few of her friends insisted that she apply to med school. Figuring she couldn't get in anyhow, she tried it. To her own surprise, she did make it!

By the time she completed her studies, she was approaching her thirties. She thought it might be time to look for a girlfriend and settle down with a family. However, researching at the university and maintaining her own private practice left her with little time. Even though she absolutely loved it, in a few years she found herself burnt out. She had always heard people talk about Yuriba, but this was the first time she considered it. Just then, she realized that she had never taken a 'vacation' before in her life. Since that time, her first vacation seems to have extended indefinitely.

Interests

Her first and foremost interests are medicine and the basic sciences of biochemistry and molecular biology. Therefore, it is not uncommon to see her reading medical and science journals in order to keep abreast of the latest research. Next, undoubtedly, she loves to keep fit. Her favorite workout is weightlifting where there is no rest in between the sessions. It's a great two-in-one, providing an aerobic workout for the heart, plus strong muscles and bones. She also likes to practice her martial arts skills in order to keep them sharp. And finally, the usual: anime, manga and video games.

Friends and Relationships

Over the years since she first came here, she has seen many a good friends leave one by one. For a while, she seemed reluctant to attach herself to anyone in particular. But recently, she seems to have found a few good friends, and at least two girlfriends: Inuyasha and Blaze.

Employment

When she first arrived, she developed close professional relationships with Professor Genesis Magite and Doctor Ritsuko Taisen. She is often seen frequenting either of the clinics. These days, however, she is considering starting her own clinic, since neither of her old colleagues seem to be accounted for. If you need her, you are welcome to make an appointment by page or @mail.
