Heather Bristow

Heather Bristow is a 19-year-old girl from Lansing, Michigan. A self-identified geek, she is somewhat animated in her behaviour but seldom leaves her home, expressing more affection for computers than for people. She is characterized by an unkempt appearance, a rapid, stumbling manner of speech, and a fashion sense that can best be described as "awful."

Vital Statistics

Physical Description

Heather's diminutive height and her slim build tend to make her look slightly younger than she is. Despite her slimness she is fairly leggy; she considers her legs her best feature. Her face is somewhat on the broad side, with a weak, short chin and a pointed, upturned nose that gives her a mousey look. Her eyes are dark blue and fairly widely-spaced. Her hair is dirty brown and has virtually no volume, hanging limply across her forehead and around her head down to her shoulders. Heather's ears are on the large side and stick out fairly prominently. Her neck is long and slim, though it appears to be perpetually craned forward, an artifact of her extreme myopia: she cannot focus effectively on objects beyond two feet of herself without her glasses, and even with them she has a bit of trouble, giving her a chronic squint and a tendency to lean forward a lot to help her vision.

In terms of fashion Heather tends to plunder discount bins for whatever clothing she can get. There is little rhyme or reason to her ensembles, though she seems to favour vastly oversized mens' button-down shirts, typically 3XT or 4XT - long enough that the shirts look like dresses on her. She owns several political T-shirts, favouring slogans mocking the Bush administration, and she never wears skirts, electing instead to garb herself in overly large khakis or jeans. She has no concept of colour coordination. Typically her footwear consists of a pair of battered sneakers over socks that are frequently mismatched.

Psychological Profile

General Personality

"Erratic" would perhaps be the best way to describe Heather. Creative and fixated on her imagination, she lives her life in a very stream-of-consciousness manner, often just blurting out whatever is on her mind without any real worry. Her mind tends to move faster than her mouth; as a result she inevitably stumbles over words, lending her a reputation as bumbling and occasionally incoherent. Heather is extremely intelligent and fancies herself a genius. This conceit has helped fuel her anti-social behaviours in that she believes that most people don't understand how her train of thought runs. A diehard cynic, Heather believes that people are mean-spirited at heart and seeks to avoid them when possible. Her sense of humour is decidedly snarky and relies heavily on sarcasm, though she's been known to laugh at crude humour more often than not.

Romantic Preferences

Heather's romantic preferences are sketchy. She is disinterested in romance, viewing both with the cynical conception that anyone interested in her will inevitably leave her and put her through unnecessary drama. Her behaviour within a relationship is unknown simply because she has never dated. She is nervous about love and prefers not to speak of it. Despite this she is extremely sexually frustrated and often vents her pent-up emotions by taking part in roleplayed cybersex, inevitably hiding behind a character.

Hobbies, Skills, and Employment

Heather is an outspoken fan of Star Trek. She owns virtually every television boxed set and can often be fond hiding in her room watching Deep Space Nine; she is known to have crushes on the actresses behind both Daxes and Kira Nerys as well as on The Next Generation's Deanna Troi. A skilled writer, she is a prolific fan fiction producer, typically working within the Star Trek or Matrix fandom. She is active on a number of MUSHes. She maintains an active blog and runs a messageboard where aspiring fanfic writers (usually part of a small circle of her internet friends) post their works for critique. Heather has some small skill as an artist but typically disparages her own talent. She loves working with computers, preferring the company of such machines over that of people, and has modified her own CPU extensively (she refers to it as "Compy of Borg," a reference to the very visible alterations she has made, and refers to her bedroom as the Shrine to the Compy). A fervent armchair politician, she follows world events religiously and is a registered Green Party member.

Currently Heather is unemployed.

Relations

Heather counts Coral and Nezuma among her friends - she considers herself in debt to the latter, as she cured a minor problem with Heather's hips - and has grown somewhat fond of Cecily. She is wary of Yurico] and Zana.
