Druidic magic is a school of manipulating magical forces which is based in nature worship. This style generally manipulates energies that occur in nature, and could be considered a variant of elementalism that is heavily focused towards the Western element of Earth or the Eastern element of Wood. However, most druidic practitioners can tap into and use all elements to some degree.

Local use

The local school of druidic magic is associated with the native religion that worships a small pantheon of goddesses related to different facets of nature, with the primary deity being known simply as The Lady. Its teachings are heavily grounded in responsible use of magic, and awareness of the possible unintended effects of using energy; this sort of 'environmental consciousness' is common in druidic mages. The most notable practitioner of druidic magic on Yuriba is breisleach. The use of druidic magic by locals tends to be by specially trained priestesses or more rarely, trained druidesses who serve the pantheon rather than a specific goddess. While the style requires some training to unlock and develop capabilities, beyond the beginner's level it relies heavily on the user's instincts and the strength of their bond with the local land, flora, and fauna. The more strongly connected a druidess is to the area she works with, the more likely she is to be affected (positively or negatively) by events that benefit or damage the land.

Comparisons to other schools

Druidic magic is seemingly linked to both the divine and elemental schools. Like divine magicians, druids draw their power partially from worship of a deity, and religious guidance and teachings are an inescapable aspect of learning this style. Because of these correlations, both of these styles are generally limited only to those who follow the relevant religion, and are often only used by clergy: some classification schemes even consider druidic magic to be a type of divine magic.

Like elementalism, druidism draws on natural forces and manipulates them. Thus, both groups can be seen as being reliant on the world around them. However, unlike druids, elementalists generally focus on one particular element that they are most strongly aligned to, and their magic is not usually based in religion. Elementalists are also often focused on more destructive forces, while druids are taught to primarily use transformational and promotional magic.
