Miry is a new resident to the Island. Though it doesn't take very long for her to grow attached to people she likes at first meeting, it is difficult to gain her trust after a bad first impression. She likes pleasant company, but finds it difficult to approach people.

At any rate, she is quite nice. In theory, if she were approached more often, she would learn how to trust more easily, and seek the company of others even more.

Appearance

Description

A young tan-haired girl with barely-noticeable curls. She has a bright but timid smile on her face, which is usually is flushed a soft pink. Still not exactly comfortable with her surroundings, she can be seen lingering off to the side most times. Miry's body is trim and fit, sporting a faint tan, but she isn't muscular by any stretch. Her nails are all polished and unpainted, neatly trimmed with her toes sticking out and wiggling against the material of her flip flops. She goes around in sandals almost everywhere. Initially, she had a distinct lack of options in terms of clothing. She's been shopping a few times and now has a few more options in her possession.

Miry wears a simple assortment of clothes, and most of her outfits are very modest. She has the body to support something much more fancy and attention-drawing, but she has no desire to put off anyone with false impressions of a holier-than-thou attitude. Crowds also intimidate her greatly, another reason she tries to appear as plain as possible.

Personality

Miry is somewhat energetic when it comes to exploration of new places. In addition, she makes a point to be very polite to people, no matter the situation. Unfortunately, her once-fit body can no longer keep up with her expeditious nature, and she never fails to come up short of energy for her goal. Naive at some times, but never to a fault, she is also very bashful towards and around everyone, be it towards her friends or (even more so) towards strangers. Despite her shyness, she has a strong desire to meet new people and make friends. It takes her a while to warm up to people, except for those she takes an exceptionally quick liking to. She makes it a primary goal in life to be pleasant.

Her anti-social personality is based around the fact she never really had much of an outlet to begin with. She's attempting fit in with the Yuriban society, but it's a long road ahead of her. Miry is easily intimidated under any circumstance. She blends in well with crowds due to her plain and unassuming appearance, but she struggles in casual situations when backed into one due to her lack of experience. She panics easily with her peers, due to her obsessive desire to keep everyone happy, caused by her distaste for conflict.

Biography

Growing Up

Miry believes that she was born to an American and Japanese couple on the island of Midway in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Oddly enough, there is no official record of her birth, or of her parents. Despite this, she specifically remembers growing up with her cadre of friends and nearing the middle of high school. An A-student, at least to the best of her recollection, it was the day after her sixteenth birthday when she woke up on Yuriba for no apparent reason or cause.

She feels tied to Yuriba somehow, and has no desire to return to her home, but she is curious as to why her memories are so fuzzy....

Reality

Though she doesn't know it, Miry has shown faint evidence of being the victim of memory erasure. In actuality, Miry was once a brutally-efficient assassin. At birth, she was "adopted" by a top-secret organization designed to weed out corruption in the world. She was inserted in a training program to turn her into a perfect human weapon. She was the first (successful) test subject of an experiment to merge a special bio-metal tech with her body.

Miry was given a pair of bladed wings that folded against her back for times of normal life. These "wings" were designed primarily as weapons, but she learned to use them as limited flight instruments. Because of the special bio-material used in their construction, detection systems would not pick them up. In addition, a special soup of nano machines were injected to allow her to materialize a large javelin-like weapon by mental will. Because the machines were so small and far between throughout her body, metal-detectors would not sense said machines, and she could enter areas where a gun or knife would get her killed.

Miry's efficiency at assassinations eventually led to a high bounty placed on her head and, at fifteen, the organization knew that, for her safety, it was time to give her a new life. On her sixteenth birthday, masquerading the event as a surprise party, Miry was drugged and put to sleep. Her wings were removed, her physical appearance altered, and replacement memories were engineered for her. They planned to ship her to America to live with an adoptive family, but her ship "mysteriously" sank, Miry being the lone survivor.

Evidently, the traumatic accident caused extensive damage to her mind, as her two separate lives seem to have "merged". She remembers her true parents--her real mother and father. However, her replacement memories about her childhood, having friends, and such, also came to the surface, causing multiple mental gaps. Fortunately, she doesn't remember her times as an assassin, but it seems that her overwrites are gradually breaking down and allowing her to remember more and more of who she really was.

It may only be a matter of time before she remembers what she really was, and becomes psychologically damaged by the realization.

Likes and Dislikes

While not a needy person, Miry feels a desire to be comfortable, and the people and things she surrounds herself with reflect this facet of her. Though flexible, she scares easily. People, for instance, who have pressured Miry for sex in the past have often scared her away--sometimes permanently, until her memory of their encounter fades. Though she has partaken of casual intercourse at least a few times during her stay on the island, it was more often through curiosity than a ravenous sexual hunger.

Miry enjoys solitude with those she has come to know more than anything else. Her home up on the snowy mountain summit reinforces this. Though she enjoys company, large groups frighten her, and her home was designed for a romantic getaway for couples. Perhaps her favorite thing to do would be to wake up to the soft snores of her lover, sneak downstairs, and make a couple cups of hot cocoa to sit in bed with and snuggle--such is her happily-ever-after fantasy.

Aquaintances

These are people whom Miry has had either a few brief encounters with to daily interaction.

Hako, Sabriel, Lisa Moonbeam, Curia, Lizz Inari, Ferala

Friends

These are people whom Miry has felt a strong connection with during her time on the island.

Lisa Moonbeam - A kind young woman who was among the first Miry met. They aren't as close as they once were, but they see each other off and on.

Sabriel - Not romantic by any stretch, Sabriel came forward with the offer to help Miry in the construction of a home. She gathered several willing volunteers from around the island, and Miry's mountaintop resort was finished in an incredibly timely manner.

Ferala - The two met under unusual circumstances. The dragon-lady was exercising her teleportation abilities, causing Miry to spill her glass all over herself in her shock. Since then, the two have developed a somewhat-friendly relationship.

Curia - Kind-hearted and sweet, Curia was there when Miry spilled her drink on herself, and was nice enough to help her tidy up following the incident. Since then, Miry has grown strongly attached to her because of her friendliness.

Family

This list represents Miry's entire family, adopted and blood, that is or ever was on island of Yuriba.

Unfortunately, at the best knowledge, no such family of hers exists--on the island, or at all.

Romantic Interests

These are all people Miry has either claimed as a romantic interest, girlfriend, or more, both past and present.

Lisa Moonbeam - Lisa was quite possibly Miry's first sexual encounter--lesbian, or otherwise. The two see each other off and on, but neither are exclusive partners to the other.

Curia - A leopard-girl that Miry met at the Tail Club while she was on duty. While not a full love interest yet, Miry is fond of her because of her cheerful nature and open personality. For the time being, she only finds it easy to be around her, and she greatly enjoys her time with her. Curia seems largely unaware of Miry's admiration at the moment, though both are quite friendly towards the other.

Place of Residence

Miry's home resides at the top of one of the highest peaks on Yuriba. While she openly dislikes seclusion, she has stated to her friends that she likes the option of being able to get away from it all. Designed to accommodate a single person, a couple, or even large parties, without bothering the local population, it is a haven completely open to the public. All Miry asks that all visitors be respectful, polite, and clean. As such, it has been commonly nicknamed the "Summit Resort".

The Area

Outside, the "Resort", as it is called, is in a sizable clearing amongst the pine groves. There is still plenty of hilly space outside for avid skiers to be right at home, with enough rocks to jump and trees to twist about to be a private obstacle course. The temperatures are generally a few degrees below freezing at the warmest, and at nighttime it plummets into sub-zero categories. Obviously, conditions become even more grave in the winter months. It is a necessity for visitors to return to the cabin before the bitter climate claims someone's life. Generally, Miry insists that people who go wandering outdoors take one of the emergency survival packs, which includes heating pads, water, a small amount of non-perishable food, and a flare gun as a safety precaution, along with a thick winter coat. The steam that spouts from the chimneys though, plus its location on a high hill, makes the cabin easily findable out in the open.

Several paths snake down the mountain into forests where the temperatures rise quickly. These paths can be found all over the mountainside, and if wanderers get lost in the wilderness, heading for the coast is the best bet. Miry's house also faces away from a tiny ice valley, another excellent spot to ski. It is best not to enter though without a partner, as it is both difficult to access, and cumbersome get out of.

House

Miry's cabin itself is smaller on the outside than it is on the inside. The entire front of the house is made up of windows, except for support pillars and the door. Two fireplaces are at the far north and south sides of the west-facing home, and provide ample warmth for the sizable living room. The living room takes up the front half of the home, and its proximity to the kitchen makes it ideal for a party. The big fluffy couch faces the windows, and folds out into a comfy bed for watching the astonishing sunsets.

The kitchen is a pleasant room as well for group gatherings. It is sizable as well, and occupies the back southern quarter of the house. It has a bar that overlooks the southern portion of the living room, and a dining table for a dozen. A center island houses two sinks, cutting boards, and storage for group cooking. The kitchen also has a refrigerator, two gas-powered stoves, and a microwave, plus more drawers and cabinets than could conceivably be used at once.

Upstairs lies a more private area. A small rotunda is at the end of the hallway, which has a love seat big enough for two, and a lamp to read by. The master bedroom is sizable, with two nightstands, a dresser, an armoire, a walk-in closet at the entrance, and most impressively: a bed large enough for four people! Covering the bed are more pillows than could possibly be necessary. There is also another love seat tucked back in the far corner. There are sleeping bags under the bed, along with fun-kits consisting of boardgames, card games, whatever kind of game imaginable. There are also additional emergency supplies for when the house is snowed in. It is also worth noting that every step on the carpet is like a foot massage, due to its plushy-yet-silky nature.

Finally, the master bathroom--the only full bath in the house--is right next door. Though there originally were plans to directly link the bedroom and bathroom, certain constraints made it necessary to scrub this option. The bathroom has more heaters in it than any other single room in the house. It consists of a walk-in shower, a spacious twenty-jet jacuzzi, a dehumidifier, a toilet, and two sinks, plus its own hall-closet at the entrance. As an added bonus, certain areas are carpeted instead of tiled for warmth and comfort during the especially-chilly days.
