Romantic identification

Similar to the concept of sexual identity, romantic identification is a descriptive term for a person's preferred relationship style. This is, specifically, in regard to romantic partnerships, with the majority of persons considering themselves to be either monogamous (only romantically interested in a single person at a time) or polyamorous (romantically interested in multiple persons at one time). Less common is an aromantic identification (someone who has absolutely no interest in romantic relationships), which may be combined with asexuality (no interest in sexual activity) or a preference only for strings-free sexual activity. While the lifestyle choices represented in a romantic identity are well known, the term itself is somewhat obscure and commonly confused with sexual identity. At least on Yuriba, many residents are at least familiar enough with the ideas of 'poly' or 'mono' as shorthand ways to indicate what they are looking for in the dating world.
