OOC: So why an OOC box?
Very often, you might want to include information about a topic that, while important or notable to the player, should be invisible (or at least translucent) to the character. OOC boxes are at least theoretically useful for a lot of such things:
  • Giving credit where credit is due: acknowledging one's influences and inspiration
  • Providing instructions on how to use something in-MUSH (commands and the like)
  • Hanging a lampshade on things that have no IC reason, but strong OOC reasons

An example of an OOC box, and of its usage. The inclusion of an OOC box should come before the paragraph to which it is narratively attached. Use them sparingly; too many floating tables tends to produce really strange results in the layout, especially on large monitors. --Sparta Kerleon 03:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
