Amongst the martial population of Demacia, Fiora stands as a paragon of it's virtues. Sheer talent and skill in combat, combined with a haughty sense of honor. What she lacks in humility, she makes up for in justifying her ego with action. While a part of the kingdom's noble elite, she has willingly accepted to become a Champion of the League of Legends, due in part to the damage her father caused to her family's name and reputation, with his attempt to cheat at a duel. The other motivation is her desire to fight stronger, more capable opponents, and push her skills beyond their limits. Long known as a family of fencing and dueling masters, Fiora has dedicated her life to mastering her craft. Though the youngest child, she is now head of her family, having taken over at sword-point from her father.

History

The deadliest and most skilled duelist, in all of her homeworld of Runeterra. As much an artist with a sword, Fiora never seemed to conform to expectations. A girl with three older, male siblings in a Noble house, most certainly destined for a political marriage, pawned off in a bargain with another noble house, no doubt had no future as a duelist. This would not stand for her. Rather than dolls, she spent her time at play practicing with a sword. No fancy dresses for her, when she could use the mannequins as training dummies, instead. For years, she honed herself in private, dedicating herself utterly to this ideal, her family's history.

When arraigned to be wed, Fiora defied all, declaring she would never consent or agree to being anyone's pawn. This left the other family, particularly her husband-to-be, humiliated and insulted. A duel would be fought, over the insult. But, Fiora's father would be the one fighting. Knowing he would lose, as the challenger was a formidable warrior, Fiora's father attempted to poison his opponent. But, he was caught in the act, instead. Demacia's laws, iron clad and unwavering, sentenced him to hang like a common criminal, and House Laurent exiled.

But, the night before the hanging, Fiora visited her father. And an ancient code of honor was invoked, that would allow the shame and dishonor of the crime to be purged from their family. Fiora fought her father, for not just the livelihood of her family, but for the stewardship of her House. But it would be a duel to the death. And, with every clash of their blades, every injury sustained, father and daughter said their farewells.

And in the end, Fiora was left the victor. While she has had to endure gossip and rumors, even insults, she has taken them in stride. Many question the honor of her House, still. Others wonder aloud, how a woman could dare to call herself the head of a noble house. But when these words reach Fiora's ear, she is quick to deal with those who would slander her. On the edge of her sword, she oft demands satisfaction, and while she offers means for those she challenges to remain with their lives and honor intact, while settling the matter, none have yet to accept. And none have ever walked away from a duel with Fiora.

Personality

Fiora is a very colorful woman, with a loud sort of personality, that may appeal to others, or grate their nerves. Rarely are their any in-betweens. To understand her personality, one needs to understand Demacia. A society where honor and martial prowess are everything, and there is only right or wrong, with no middle ground. It's very much the same with the woman, as well. For her, skill and honor are everything about her. And the black and white of her country's society has ingrained itself into her psyche. Those who do deceitful and underhanded things are not to be tolerated, where those who uphold their morals and their word are held in much higher esteem.

She can come off as overbearing, however. Haughty, arrogant, self-centered. They are products of who she is, how she grew up, and where. Beneath that exterior is an intelligent, humorous woman, who isn't above teasing ally and enemy alike. As much a fencer with words, she enjoys a good conversation almost as much as a heated duel. This more social part of her is likely to make it somewhat easier for her to mesh with others, in and out of combat. A bit of a social butterfly, or as much of one that a Demacian is likely to be, she always seems to be able to make public appearances at court, in her position as the head of a noble family.

All in all, Fiora has flaws, that her martial upbringing and society have marked on her. At the same time, it's given her the strength and resolve to compensate, somewhat. No one is perfect, even if that is their goal. And, sometimes, more so. With a confidence that cna easily seem like arrogance, perfection is often just out of reach.
