Homosexuality

Homosexuality is a term used by non-natives to describe affection or sexual desire between two individuals of the same gender, rather than for the opposite. As Yuriban culture and society does not have a male gender, and actually regards the male as a separate species entirely as they are not required nor essential to reproduction on Yuriba, the term carries none of the connotations and/or stigmas normally associated with the word outside of Yuriba. In fact, among native Yuribans, it is heterosexuality that is considered to be contrary to the norm, with interactions with males generally regarded as the non-Yuriban equivalent to falling in love with a tree, or a rock, or a wall.

As the sole gender on the island of Yuriba is female, "homosexuality" is deeply rooted as the norm, in stark contrast to the dimensions that immigrants to the island hail from.
