Shana Carter is a 16-year-old girl, and fairly recent addition to Yuriba.
Background
Not much is known about Shana's early life. She was born in Boston, her father a member of the city's police and her mother a popular artist. Proving to be very gifted, she was sent to a special prep school at age 10, where she lived for several years. At 15, however, she decided to leave her home behind. Feeling the need to see the world, she began traveling, eventually finding her way to the village of Yuriba.
Personality & Interests
Shana is always curious about the world around her, but despite her adventurous intentions, she is often hindered by overwhelming shyness. Thus, when she goes out exploring, she typically does so by herself. She rarely - if ever - speaks up in groups, but will open up if she's alone with someone she likes. The time spent in a formal school has given her impeccable manners, and she prefers using "Miss" or "Mrs." before someone's name when addressing them. Though not very assertive on the outside, she can be remarkably open and playful if she takes a liking to someone.
Due to her shyness, very few people know she is remarkably intelligent and mature for her age. In particular, she enjoys literature and art, and is quite talented in both areas. Her specialty lies in the realm of sculpture, especially with ice, and she has a room in her house dedicated to showing some of her favorite pieces.
Finally, Shana has a great love of water and ice. She is an accomplished swimmer, and is most at home someplace cool, though she still bundles up quite a bit if it gets too cold. She looks forward to winter each year, mostly so that she can make snow sculptures.
Relationships (not necessarily romantic)
Marla - A woman who Shana met soon after arriving in Yuriba. Marla first introduced her to the idea of a lesbian relationship, and gave Shana her first kiss. However, despite mutual romantic feelings developing, Marla left the village before anything could happen between them. There is an ice sculpture dedicated to her in Shana's display room.
Veeru - A very energetic teenage girl, and Shana's best friend, despite being total opposites in their personalities. They both study music, playing different instruments. Veeru usually amuses herself by trying to embarrass Shana, and is frequently successful.
Xala - A middle-aged woman whom Veeru introduced Shana to. Since then, Shana has come to see Xala as a mother, even calling her such on occasion.
Epiphany - An acquaintance Shana has taken a shine to. The two had an informal competition to see who could complete the Halloween scavenger hunt first.
