Totter Turtle

Totter Turtles are a very small species of turtle related to the painted terrapin found in Indonesia. They have dark green shells painted red on top in a figure eight circle on the top and bottom of their shells. Totter terrapins are capable of surprising bursts of speed over short distances, on land or water. The turtle is capable of brief sprints for 3-4 seconds and even short leaps, and they have a surprisingly strong bite. Laying small clutches of eggs and taking roughly twenty years to reach full maturity, the Totter Turtles even at full size are only roughly ten centimeters long. Omnivorous, they prefer to eat insects and seeds, and use their small bursts of speed to ambush prey or otherwise make jumps to safety from predators. They typically live near fresh water, favoring small ponds and creeks more than the larger rivers and lakes.
