Briona is a girl from a fairly mundane version of modern Earth who found herself mysteriously transported to Yuriba one day. She can often be found hanging around at Leona's Bar and Girl.

Physical Description

Briona girl is 5'5" tall, with a lean build and light brown hair cut in a short, messy style. The proportions of her face give her a slightly impish look, which the occasional twinkle in her green eyes and lop-sided grin on her full lips doesn't do anything to dispel. There is a light sprinkling of freckles across her nose. The first impression on seing her could be an adolescent boy, until the curves of her hips and bust are noted. She looks to be in her mid to late teens.

Her preferred style of dress tends towards the tomboyish, a relic of many years of hand-me-downs from male relatives. She has previously been reluctant to wear anything remotely "girly", seeming nervous and uncomfortable on the few occasions when she did so. Recently though, she has begun to add more feminine touches to her wardrobe and even wear the occasional skirt in summer.

Personality

She tends to be fairly outgoing and friendly, though a little unpolished or uncertain in her speech. In general, her appearance matches her attitude and she tends to act more like a boy her age, and like "Guy" things.

She's taken to the Yurban lifestyle very enthuisiastically, and enjoys encounters with 'Hot Girls'. One fact the perceptive will pick up is the way she becomes hesitant and tongue-tied around females she considers somehow out of her league.

History

Briona's Mother died in a car accident when she was young, and her Father worked as a long distance Truck driver. This meant Briona and her brother were raised by her Aunt and Uncle, living with them and her two cousins, both male. Growing up in a predominantly male environment, Briona was usually seen as "One of the Guys" by her Brother, Cousins and their friends, and had no real female friends. Her Aunt made occasional attempts to encourage her to become more ladylike, but it was a losing battle.

When puberty kicked in, Briona realised there was another interest she shared with the guys- though her own lack of social skills then meant she'd never done more than fantasise about girls until she reached Yuriba (she's been making up for lost time since).

Shrine to Issui

Shortly after arriving on the island, Briona stumbled across an abandoned shrine which seemed to have gone unnoticed for centuries despite it's proximity to the road leading into the hills. She moved in and started fixing the place up, but was nervous about the potential reaction of whatever goddess might have been worshipped here.

After consulting Breisleach, she found that the shrine was likely to Issui, the Yuriban goddess of Water, and that the series of pools and waterfalls that had been formed by several ancient dams was likely the real shrine. Briona has since been working to rebuild these, using only stones worn smooth with water, so that the series of pools and waterfalls will be restored to its formerly impressive state- water in motion being pleasing to Issui.

Briona also found that several things she'd done to redecorate the shrine before learning anything about Issui (painting spirals, for instance) were also pleasing to the goddess. This freaks her out a little when she thinks about it, especially as she gets the feeling Issui wanted her to find the shrine and has nudged her in a few ways since she moved in. When she lets herself think about it, she hopes a live-in caretaker is the only thing the goddess wants.
