Shao Jun (俊紹 Jun Shao), the Harrier of the Orient, is a mysterious young woman of Chinese descent, aged nineteen. She sports athletic wear and often keeps her hair short, reflecting a very physical lifestyle. She spends as much time training her body as she does her mind, reading and learning about both historical subjects as well as medical pursuits, curiously enough. She prefers a red cloak, and sports a pair of bracers even in her day-to-day garments. Typical haunts for her are The Baby Seal, curiously, as well as hot springs and The Dragon’s Brew when she is not honing her considerable talents. Despite her polite demeanor and an enthusiasm to learn, she is hesitant to speak of her background to many people. Often looking on-guard even here, Jun is one to play her cards close to the chest. Her friends are few in number, but those she does trust enough with such a connection she is loyal to for life.

History

Early Childhood, Induction, and her mission

Jun was born a slave to Emperor Zhengde, intended as one of the inept and wasteful emperor's concubines, spent a decade under his ownership until the Emperor's death in 1521. Jun was one of many of his servants rescued by a branch of the Assassin order during a raid conducted of the royal palace as bickering over who would inherit Zhengde's throne. Loyal to her rescuers, Jun swore her allegiance to the Order and trained as an assassin.

After three or so years, Jun found those of her fellow slaves who had not escaped were tortured to death, and her order attracted the attention of Emperor Jiajing's own agents. He sought to purge them all, and those that survived went into hiding across the world, many traveling westward.

Jun and her teacher traveled to Europe, looking to find one Ezio Auditore, legendary Mentor of the order's Roman branch, who had retired to a Tuscan villa at the time. Tracked down by Jiajing's soldiers, Jun was forced to leave her master as he fought to buy her time to escape, giving his life in the process.

She was forced to travel to Tuscany alone, and she soon found herself at Ezio's villa. After a rocky start between the two, Ezio soon began to teach Jun what he could, and she took his lessons to heart when her allegiance became evident.

After his lessons finished, and Ezio helped Jun in fighting off the soldiers that followed her all the way across Asia and Europe, Jun went back to her travels, this time by stowing away on a merchant vessel in bound for India, where she would travel the rest of the way to China on-foot. With the wisdom Ezio had given Jun, she aimed to help rebuild her order back home, and defeat Jiajing.

However, she was discovered by the Emperor's forces and forced aboard a Chinese vessel, where she would be returned to Jiajing in chains. But this time, she was not harmless even contained like this. Jun found a way to escape her bindings, and after retrieving her equipment she escaped in the middle of a roaring storm in the middle of the South-Pacific ocean.

The ship was destroyed, and she was thought among those who either were killed in the chaos, or drowned soon after in the murky depths, her efforts seemingly all in vain.

Arrival to Yuriba

It would not be so simple in reality.

Jun one day awoke drifting towards an island, half-dead and battered from her fight to survive for what must have been days. She paddled to shore, and soaked to the bone and freezing, she struggled for shelter. Acquiring some local clothing, a bath, and a bit of time to rest, Jun began to seek information on the island, shortly after her arrival making a friend in Matoi Ryūko, a mysterious girl in her own right, somewhat brash and carrying a bizarre half of a shear to use like a sword, but otherwise affable enough.

To her shock, Yuriba was all-female in population, with social customs and styles of dress quite alien to the assassin. She began to figure that the island's nature was not quite of the world she knew, and simply became more and more curious about it.

They found themselves fighting against Mana Eaters a night later, and during the following convalescence, Jun offered up her services as a Lily Blade.

To her great surprise, she not only met with another Assassin, but two in short succession; Aveline de Grandpré of New Orleans and Chiharu Nakashima of Japan. They came to know each other, and soon Jun's suspicions about the island were confirmed; that time and space were very much outside the bounds of the island.

They created a bureau, but otherwise they have opted to keep their actions low as they acquired more and more information of the island and its inhabitants.

Personality

Jun is a withdrawn, often quiet sort who prefers to watch from afar, rather than involve herself unless necessary in social affairs. Regardless, she is an inquisitive sort with an eagerness to learn more about other cultures and such. She has often been found looking for information from her time to the modern era, not out of need, but curiosity to understand Aveline and Chiharu's times better, as well as the new decade of the 2010's. Jun has no need for modern conveniences herself save for refrigeration and indoor plumbing, as well as electric light sources, those are nice as well. In short, Yuriba is a comfortable place for her, even if her options for honing her techniques are a bit limited unless she traveled north to the woods.

Despite her youth, she often shows a sullen side to her that indicates a grim maturity with serious matters that befits a professional, one much older than herself. Despite that, she lapses when not in the middle of her work, and she is often flustered and rather sheepish when she bumbles into a social faux pas, or deals with a nasty case of values dissonance.

Aveline baffles her the most, with the Hellcat of the Bayou is in her flirty moods, in public no less. She however seems to switch off when in private, certain that she can keep things between herself and Aveline. Despite her solidarity with her sisters, Jun is somewhat more distant to Chiharu, due to some...difficulties between the two socially.

For all her hopes of a better life, Jun often expects the worst out of everything. She has her moments of pleasant surprise, but otherwise she tends to predict poor outcomes more often than not. Happiness was not on the things she was counting on finding as an assassin, but the island's nature may change that.
