Toshiba Market

The Toshiba Market is a food shop located at the end of the trail that goes north from the Maboroshi Islet boardwalk. Emi owns it and runs it with the help of her consort, Falcio and, occasionally, her daughter Alice_Toshiba.

General Information

The shop is rather modest in size but it is the only dedicated foodshop on the island. The items for sale vary from vegetables and fruits to meat and spices; there are even some basic cooking utensils available. Some products for basic personal hygiene have also been added to the items for sale, to make life a bit easier on the island. Although usually well furnished, some of the goods that have to come from off the island might occasionally be hard to find due to the difficulties of shipping. Ever since it's opening, a woman named Maria worked there to help customers with their shopping. While both Emi and Falcio always work seriously, they are always happy to have a friendly conversation with customers who like to stop and talk.

History

The Toshiba Market was opened in the August of the year 2007 by Emi and her former wife Mia. It was initially named Arisu Market, after the couple’s last name, Arisu. Mia and Emi divorced later in January 2008; When Mia left, Emi kept managing the market alone and even had to use it as dwelling to get away from her abusive wife, until she got married to Falcio. Although both Emi and Falcio changed their last name in Toshiba upon becoming a married couple, the shop kept the name “Arisu Market” and it has been officially still co-owned by Mia until August 2008, year in which it was completely transferred over to Emi and renamed Toshiba Market. In 2008, after being remodelled and it’s variety of articles expanded to satisfy the requests of some customers, Emi and Falcio started opening a stall for every festival, where they occasionally sell special goods that might not be available all year round at the market. Since February 2010, Emi accepted Falcio’s request of donating all of the monthly income of the market to charity. Starting August 2010, the market started selling some products for basic personal hygiene as well. Later in September of the same year, the market sponsored the first Fall Food Festival.
