History

Status as Celestial Avatar of Bread

Cinnamon is actually a being of indeterminate age, some think her existence dates back to the time of Ancient Greece, but in truth she predates even that civilization. There is no documentation but it is thought that she arrived her long, long ago during the formation of the planet and was subsequently the one who first created the yeast bacteria and placed it on the planet, meshing it in with the newly growing biosphere to disguise it's appearance within the mesh of evolution. More common is the story that she was mandated by the ruler of the gods, Zeus in the Greek Mythos, yet others in Egyptian, Sumerian, and Asian pantheons, to bring knowledge of Bread to the humans that inhabited the Earth. Cinnamon, however, was never a vain being, and preferred letting these works be attributed to others, despite her hard work. Yet truly her status seems to be that of Celestial Avatar of Bread, or as she prefers Goddess of Baking. Her status as the divine being in charge of bread brought her in contact with other gods and goddesses, those related to the harvest of grains and fermentation, such as the God Dionysus with whom she had a particular sordid affair that lasted many decades. Her influence amongst various religious pantheons was so high, that it's believed she was the one responsible for adding the line, "Give us this day our daily bread" changing it from the preplanned, "Bring us this day a bountiful harvest". Because of that she gained the ire of the harvest gods and goddesses, and withdrew from the scene to avoid further confrontation. That is all that had been documented for the last few thousand years until she made an appearance on the island of Yuriba in the guise of a simple baker girl.

Early Life

The above is obviously a total bunch of lies! Perhaps a dream that Cinnamon once had, but it sure sounds exciting!

In truth, Cinnamon is a normal young woman of human origin. Her parents were of the 'hippie' generation. They ended up in Southern California in the United States after having lived on a commune there that eventually dissolved as the political climate of the country changed. They too became more conservative in their beliefs, prizing traditional jobs and financial well being as they got older. Despite their earlier, free love lifestyle they only had two children, Cinnamon and her older brother Thyme. Cinnamon led a relatively quiet and uneventful childhood, not being the most outgoing or pretty child. She spent a lot of time outdoors on simpler things and although she didn't lack for friends, she was never the most popular girl in school. In highschool the trend continued, and though she was the president of the Home Economics club, she really did not have a large group of friends. Her passion was always baking. She probably focused on it because of her name, but she had a talent for it, unlike other forms of cooking which she never seemed able to master. She enjoyed the opportunity to bake cookies and things for her friends in school, often offering them to others in an attempt to win their friendship. After Highschool Cinnamon decided to embark on a trip to Europe and Asia to see the world before beginning college. She really didn't want to follow her brother's footsteps and go into Business School, and she had no real interests other than baking. She used the trip to sample and research breads around the world, but while on a boat trip near Okinawa, the boat was sidetracked due to a storm and she ended up on the island of Yuriba.

Life in Yuriba

Having arrived here, she took the opportunity to look around in search of the local baking and foods. There were many restaurants and they didn't seem to charge anything for the meals, which made for easy research. As a temporary residence she found a place at an abandoned mill on the Yuriba River. As time went on, she revitalized it and made it into a simple bakery for herself. She had no original plans of extending it or making it available to the public, but at the encouragement of some new friends, Nasuru, Nelaeryn, Hako, and Jaspelle, she approached the city council with the idea. She was surprised when it was accepted and with a little work, the path to the front door was cleared out, connecting it to Spruce Lane. The original incarnation of the bakery allowed for a kitchen, a sales floor, a balcony with a table, and a loft room which she used as her living quarters. An assistant and waitress, Ingrid, helped out with sales. The menu featured everything from breads to cupcakes. It was a moderate success, though business was always slow. Things continued at a normal pace for quite a while, until the end of 2010 when a Fall Food Festival was held on the island. Cinnamon entered a booth and a confection creation, the Sun Berry and Orange Trifle Crisp. She also took the opportunity to update the bakery, revising it's menu to only cookies, which she believed would suit the market here more, since they were easy to eat and sweet. Cinnamon has continued to add to the bakery menu since then. Maintaining the bakery has become a large part of her time on the island and makes up most of her identity here.

Description

Physical Appearance

Cinnamon is rather average looking, of average height, around 5 foot 6 inches tall. She has short wavy hair that reaches just past chin length. Her eyes are pale blue and her eyebrows and lashes are a little darker than the sunbleached blonde of her hair. Her figure is sufficiently feminine, except for at the hips where her body lacks a bit of curvature in back. She prefers casual clothing, and has a simple wardrobe, though she does have a bakers outfit that she rarely wears. She likes to dress up in exotic outfits when given the chance, such as on Halloween. She once won the Sci-Fi costume contest by dressing as a UFO. She also has a cheerful Christmas costume with fake reindeer antlers. And, if rumors can be believed she tends to wear very creative undergarments.

Personality

Cinnamon is generally cheerful, but is prone to mood swings when focusing too much on the Bakery. That can be a problem, since she is almost always focused on the bakery. This has caused her trouble in past relationships where her partners felt neglected in comparison. Despite her love and almost continual attention to baking and the bakery, Cinnamon enjoys the beach and spending time outdoors. She's always frustrated by the almost continual rain on the island which often ruins her plans. She's also hindered by two other factors, her irrational and almost comical fear of bears, and her tendency to get completely lost when setting foot outside her door. Still she seems to have memorized the path to the Phantasm Harbor, and even had a special locator keychain made that points the way back to the bakery. This was a prize in the bakery's 2011 summer matsuri booth.

Relationships

Not much here. Was dating Nelaeryn for a while. Cinnamon has some other friends, Neiko, Nasuru, Diana Jove, and Hiera. She developed a crush on Soled a native of the island who mysteriously disappeared before she could get close to her and admit her feelings. Afterwards she met Temair, coincidentally at the same spot. Temair obviously had some misapprehensions about people, but she also had some nice qualities that drew Cinnamon to her. Cinnamon associates the Salamander and Cheese bread that she invented with that almost-relationship. She figured that, given enough time she could help the girl understand people better, but, unfortunately Temair was ruthlessly slaughtered by a mob of people before Cinnamon could see her again.
