Halloween
While not a native holiday to Yuriba, Halloween has recently seen a surge in popularity amongst the primarily foreign inhabitants of the island, with the first recorded festivities occurring in October of 2002. In practice the Halloween activities are much like any of those observed in the United States or the British Isles. On or around October 31st participants dress in a variety of costumes and travel door-to-door in search of candy. Halloween in Yuriba also traditionally includes a costume party held in the Sombreuil Community Center, with the night culminating in the announcement of that year's costume contest winners.
